Who needs to take this course?
Anyone born after January 1, 1986, who hunts in certain areas in Alaska needs hunter education.
Beginning July 1, 2016, anyone born on or after January 1, 1986, must also complete and pass an approved bowhunter course to hunt big game with archery equipment.

Registration requirements
There are no additional registration requirements listed for the Alaska Hunter-Ed course.
Course expiration and extensions
The Alaska Hunter-Ed course expires after 120 days.
Extensions are available for the following course option:

Quizzes and final exam
Hunter-Ed: Quizzes include 5-15 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited quiz attempts.
The final exam includes 50 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited attempts.
Field day requirements
Alaska requires a Field Day.
After passing the online course, students must print their Field Day Qualifier Certificate and bring it with them to the Field Day.
The Field Day Qualifier Certificate is valid for 365 days.
Students must attend the Field Day to complete their hunting safety certification.
After completing the course
After completing the online course, students can immediately print their Field Day Qualifier Certificate.
Students should allow up to 3 days before signing up for the Field Day so their information can transfer to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Bowhunter education
Bowhunter education is required for hunters born on or after January 1, 1986, who hunt big game with archery equipment in Alaska.
