Who needs to take this course?
A Connecticut Hunter Safety Course is required for all hunters who are hunting for the first time, do not currently hold a hunting license, or do not have a hunting license issued from another state or province within the last 2 hunting years.
Bowhunter education is available and may be mandatory in certain circumstances.

Registration requirements

Course expiration and extensions
Connecticut hunter education courses expire after 90 days.

Quizzes and final exam
HunterEdCourse: Quizzes include 5 questions. Students must score 70% or higher to pass or they must redo the unit.
The final exam includes 50 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited attempts.
Field day requirements
Connecticut requires an in-person Field Day.
After completing the online hunter education course, students can print their voucher and schedule the in-person Field Day.

After completing the course
After successfully completing the online course, students can immediately print their Certificate of Completion.
Students can print the certificate right away or request that a PDF be emailed to them.
Students must attend the in-person Field Day to complete certification.
Bowhunter education
Bowhunter education is available in Connecticut and may be mandatory in certain circumstances.
Military exemptions and benefits
Active full-time members of the U.S. Armed Forces may purchase a Connecticut hunting, fishing, or trapping license at the same fees as a resident.
All other exemption or benefit questions should be referred to the state.
