Who needs to take this course?
You need hunter education if you were born on or after September 1, 1969, and will be hunting in Louisiana.
Important field day information
Students under 16 years old must complete both the online course and Hunter Education Field Day to meet Louisiana hunter education requirements.
Passing the online course does not guarantee a spot at a Hunter Education Field Day.
Students who are 16 years old or older when they register for the course do not need to attend a Hunter Education Field Day.

Course expiration and extensions
Louisiana hunter education courses expire after 90 days.
Extensions are available for the following course option:

Hunter-Ed does not offer extensions.
Quizzes and final exam
Exam requirements may vary by course option.
Hunter-Ed: Quizzes include 5 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited quiz attempts. The final exam includes 50 questions, and students must score 75% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited attempts.
Ilearntohunt: Quizzes include 5 questions. Students must score 80% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited quiz attempts. The final exam includes 50 questions, and students must score 75% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited attempts.
Field day requirements
Students who are under 16 years old when they register for the course must pass the online course and attend the Hunter Education Field Day to complete hunter safety certification.
The Field Day voucher is valid for 365 days.
Students who are 16 years old or older when they register do not need to attend a Field Day.
After completing the course
Students who are 16 years old or older can immediately print their permanent Hunter Education Certificate after successfully completing the online course.
Nothing is mailed.
Students who are under 16 years old can immediately print proof of online course completion. They must bring this proof to the Hunter Education Field Day.
Military exemptions and benefits
Active or veteran U.S. Armed Forces members and POST-certified law enforcement officers may qualify for a Louisiana-only hunter education exemption.
This exemption is valid only in Louisiana.

Replacement cards
Hunters age 16 and older can replace a lost or destroyed Hunter Education Certificate by logging back into the course and printing a new one.
