Who needs to take this course?
You need hunter education if you are 12 through 29 years old and must carry proof of successful completion of firearm hunter education while hunting with a firearm or air gun.
Students under 16 years old are required to complete a Hunt Safe Session.
Depending on your age, you may also be required to have a Hunter Education Certificate and Bowhunter Education Certificate to legally buy a license or permit to hunt.

Registration requirements

Course expiration and extensions
The Nebraska Hunter-Ed course expires after 90 days.
Extensions are available for the following course option:

Quizzes and final exam
Hunter-Ed: Students must score 80% or higher on quizzes. Students have unlimited quiz attempts.
The final exam includes 80 questions. Students must score 85% or higher to pass. Students have unlimited attempts.
Field day requirements
Students who are under 16 years old when they register for the course must pass the online course and attend the Hunt Safe Session to complete hunter and bowhunter safety certification.
The Hunt Safe Session voucher is valid for 365 days.
Students can register for a Hunt Safe Session through Register-Ed.
After completing the course
After completing the online course, the permanent Hunter Education Certificate will be available for download in the student’s online permitting profile within 24 to 48 hours.

Bowhunter education
Depending on the student’s age, a Hunter Education Certificate and Bowhunter Education Certificate may be required to legally buy a license or permit to hunt.

Military exemptions and benefits
Active-duty military members stationed in Nebraska for at least 30 days may purchase a resident hunting permit.
Active-duty military members who are Nebraska residents but stationed elsewhere may also purchase a resident hunting permit.
Nebraska residents who are or have been deployed out of state may be eligible for a one-time reduced-fee combination hunt/fish permit. The deployment must have been within the past 12 months.
Resident veterans age 64 or older may purchase a reduced-fee combination hunt/fish permit.
Resident veterans with a disability may be eligible for the free Disabled Veteran’s Lifetime Annual Small Game Hunting/Fishing Permit. They must have 50% or more service-related disability or 100% non-service-related disability.
Replacement cards
Replacement cards are handled by the state of Nebraska.
Students can replace a lost, destroyed, or damaged Hunter Education Certificate by logging in and printing through Go Outdoors Nebraska:
